Yubico is famous for its Yubikey security keys, which allow to validate a double authentication. I told you about it a few years ago, and it's a method that I still use today for the double authentication of most of the services that I use. Security has indeed become essential, as hacking attempts have multiplied in recent years. The manufacturer is constantly improving its devices, and has just announced a new range of Yubikey Bio security keys, which allow you to unlock accounts with a fingerprint!

The YubiKey Bio series behaves like an ordinary security key. So it can help you sign in to services without having to use passwords or act as a second factor besides a password or passcode from your phone. Either of these usage modes can help you avoid phishing attacks, and the YubiKey Bio can be used with a wide range of apps and services, including 1Password, Google Chrome, Microsoft accounts , Twitter, etc.

However, Yubico specifies that its Bio keys do not currently support OTP or Smart card standards.
Note, however, that this new Bio key does not support the NFC standard, as was the case with some previous models from the manufacturer (such as the NFC 5C key for around fifty euros). NFC has the advantage of being able to use double authentication on your smartphone or tablet, by simply passing the Yubikey on your smartphone. Let's hope that a Bio / NFC model sees the light of day soon.
However, for those who want a security key that allows them to log in with a fingerprint, YubiKeys are definitely the product to own! It will take 80€ for the USB-A version and 85€ for the USB-C version.
