Concretely, in addition to having to renew the operation regularly, the telephone had to remain nearby, and above all be permanently connected. The computer then only played the role of interface, which it must be admitted was sorely lacking in ergonomics. Accessible since 2016, the application will finally have an independent version.
From now on WhatsApp will make life easier for Internet users, by allowing access to the platform on a computer, without requiring a smartphone nearby. This feature, long requested by users and users should now be accessible to all, said the American firm in a press release.
To use WhatsApp on a computer, it will first be necessary to link a smartphone account to a computer. To do this, simply update to the latest version of the mobile application, and access the settings via the three points located at the top right of the interface. Then select "Linked devices", then "Multi-device beta". You will then be offered to join the beta of the application. From there, all you have to do is access WhatsApp in Web, Desktop or Portal version, by scanning the QR Code from a phone.
In opting for this beta version, however, it is good to note that the functionality is still in the experimental phase, and that “performance and quality may be affected”. In addition, it is currently necessary to use the latest version of WhatsApp from your smartphone, and to ensure that your interlocutor has done the same, otherwise it will be impossible to send or receive messages and calls.

I really can't understand this novelty. So you always have to go through the whatsapp web on a computer and have your phone to scan the QR code. So what does it change compared to before?
I'm doing exactly the same thing as when there was no beta.

Your phone is for saving your WhatsApp credentials on your PC. Once you disable your phone's internet connection you can still use it on your PC, whereas before it was not possible if you stopped your phone's internet connection. You also lost the connection on PC.

To answer Animol, I've obviously been doing this for a long time with a computer by my side, and I find it very good to do video with the family rather than having the small screen of the phone. So personally I find it very useful

A link that is absolutely useless since you always need a phone.

Basically, the PC is still not independent of the phone.
