It was one of the promises of the law for a digital republic: to open a telephone service for deaf, hearing impaired, deaf or aphasic. The French telecoms federation was committed to it and officially launches it this October 8.It was the Roger Voice start-up that was responsible for developing a dedicated mobile application.Roger Voice was created by the Franco-American Olivier Jeannel, himself a deep deaf.
The company has relied on its know-how in artificial intelligence since it has already offered a subtitles service generated automatically for voice calls since 2015.It has, in addition, integrated a telephone platform to join real interpreters in sign language and in spoken-complated language. These appear in video chat.
A first call was made this morning in the presence of Secretary of State Mounir Mahjoubi. The service has been officially put into service since 11:00 a.m.
The invoices will also be offered in Braille and the employees of call centers and shops will be specially trained and aware to best welcome disabled people. The French Federation of Telecoms includes Bouygues Telecom, Orange, SFR and Euro-Information Telecom (creditMotual mobile, CIC Mobile, NRJ Mobile, Auchan Telecom). But not Free Mobile who decided to launch his own "Free telephone relay" service.
