Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet, bright and durable

This tablet shows off an 8-inch HD touch screen, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and very good brightness. On the storage side, the Amazon Fire 8 houses 32 or 64 GB (your choice) and 2 GB of RAM. As for the battery, it can push the autonomy up to 12 hours, which is quite significant. In addition, Amazon had the good initiative to add a USB-C port to make charging easier. There are also two 2MP lenses, placed on either side of the tablet. An effective product, therefore, with sober but elegant lines.

Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet, the most powerful

The Amazon Fire 10 touch tablet easily stands out as the strongest model in the range. Proudly displaying a 10.1-inch screen in Full HD (with a resolution of 1920 x 1200), 32 or 64 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM, this tablet actually provides a very convincing user experience. It does better than its little sisters in terms of photos thanks to a 5 Mpx rear camera (the one placed in front, however, remains at 2 Mpx). Everything you need to know about Amazon Fire tablets

With its Fire range, Amazon aims to offer quality touch pads at very affordable prices. It is also important not to confuse the Amazon Fire tablets with the Kindle range. The latter does not have the same utility at all and is located on the e-reader market. This clarification being made, you should know that the Amazon Fire family consists of three main models called Fire 7, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10. These tablets, present in our selection above, have their own characteristics with regard to size, display, on-board power and price. Additionally, they are offered with or without in-app advertisements. With ads, the price obviously drops more. All therefore offer the classic possibilities of a touch pad and are equipped with a lens for taking photos and videos. Of course, given the attractiveness in terms of pricing, we cannot demand such advanced rendering as with the most expensive devices, but that is still correct. With their affordable prices and ease of use, Amazon tablets can be suitable for the whole family. Parents and children will find it (it is also possible to activate parental control). Same thing for the elderly who are not used to using this type of device. All the more so that the autonomy is quite honest (from 7 to 12 hours depending on the model), enough to carry the tablet everywhere during the day without risking any inconvenience.

Are Amazon Fire tablets Android tablets?

Question both simple and complex since some teasing spirits would be tempted to answer you: yes and no. In fact, Fire tablets are not Android tablets, in the sense that you don't find everything that makes the specificities of Android stamped devices. When a tablet or smartphone uses Android as its operating system, we find the entire Google suite (such as Gmail, the Chrome browser and Google Drive, among others) as well as the Google Play Store. It's in the package right away. However, there is none of this on an Amazon Fire since, competition obliges, Amazon favors its services and applications. There is, however, a base of Android in the operating system running the Fire touchscreen tablets. The aptly named Fire OS is indeed designed from the so-called “open source” version of Android, a version that you can adapt and shape according to your desires. It is therefore not completely false to affirm that at the level of the computer code the Fire tablets are of the Android type but in the end, from a user point of view, this is not the case since everything that makes the tablets specifics of the software part is absent.

What types of apps are available on the Amazon Appstore?

First of all, it should be remembered that there is no question here of finding blinds from other manufacturers. In fact, there are only applications validated by Amazon and which are only accessible via the Amazon Store. It is therefore necessary to make a cross on applications from Google or Apple. The Amazon suite is obviously highlighted (Prime Music, Prime Reading, etc.). Regarding video streaming, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime (logical) are available, unlike MYTF1, myCANAL and France.tv. While most social networks are present (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), this is not the case for all major video games. Some are accessible, like Minecraft or Clash of Clans, but essentials like Fortnite are not part of the party. Finally, be aware that Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and OneDrive are present on Amazon Fire.
