Like the Acoustic Surface process available on Sony Oled TVs or the CSO by LG Display (see our CES 21 news > 48'' flexible Oled TV CSO by LG Display), the Hisense 88L5VG Sonic Laser TV Ultra HD 4K, based on an ultra-short throw projector, offers a projection screen equipped with DML (Distributed Mode Loudspeaker) technology to create a 180° sound environment coming directly from the screen. Namely, the latter is always of ALR or CLR obedience (Ambient Light Rejecting or Ceiling Light Rejecting based on the Fresnel principle).
This DML technology integrates drivers directly into the 88'' projection screen (see visual below) which delivers the sound to through 100,000 honeycomb structured audio units. Hisense announces that this process allows a sound reproduction perfectly in phase with the displayed images, and above all, a perfect localization in space of sound effects and atmospheres. As a reminder, these exciters cause the projection screen to vibrate locally, displacing the related air to create a sound.
The huge screen surface of the Hisense Sonic Laser TV allows a wide sound spectrum (low frequencies reproduced down to 50 Hz, enough to do without a subwoofer) and the structure of its support in honeycomb allows excellent localization and differentiation of each sound. Finally, support for Dolby Armos is provided.
Obviously, all the attributes of the Hisense Laser TV range are available within the Hisense 88L5VG Sonic Laser TV: 0.47'' DLP chip with 1920 native resolution x 1,080 pixels (3,840 x 2,160 ppixel display with Texas Instrument XPR4 wobulation technology), DVB‑T2/DVB‑C/DVB‑S2 tuner, MEMC motion compensation, HDR10, HDR HLG, extended color space… Peak light is advertised by Hisense at 2,150 lumens from a laser light source (as the product name suggests) with a whopping 25,000 hour lifespan.
Similarly, the Hisense 88L5VG Laser TV has, in addition to HBBTV compatibility, the latest version of the Smart TV Vidaa U 4.0 function offering direct access via the remote control to the main streaming services: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten and YouTube… And Hisense offers access to the Molotov Plus platform for three months. Last precision, to display an image of 88'', or 224 cm, the necessary distance is only 25 centimeters. This is the main advantage of an ultra short throw projector.
The connection has four HDMI 2.0 inputs (with management of the ARC function on one of them), a Sub‑D15 input, a Composite, an RCA stereo, a 3.5 mm mini-Jack auxiliary, two USB 2.0 ports (with DVR and Time Shifting), a CI+ port and an Ethernet port. There is also an optical output.
