For several weeks now, animals belonging to residents of Saint-Laurent-de-Cerdans have been victims of pellet rifle shooting: several have been shot or injured, cats have disappeared, another has been found dead, killed by a lead shot between the two eyes, another cat had a paw also broken by a lead.

On the night of December 29 to 30, Pong, a pretty little goat, was shot at close range by individuals who broke into private property: "We have a closed enclosure, a camera, then again an electrified enclosure During the night, people entered our property, knocked out the camera, and shot our goat," says the owner painfully. "It's already hard for us, because he was really a pet, we played football with him, but for our 7-year-old daughter, it's very complicated. Since then, she hasn't slept anymore" , adds the mother.

A diligent investigation

The family filed a complaint, and took their other goat to safety on a farm to prevent it from suffering the same fate. "We know that it happened to other people, who did not dare to talk about it. Since then, there have been testimonies from people who have seen young people from the village walking around with a rifle," he explains. -she. "We don't want to point the finger at anyone, the investigation is ongoing, but we want to tell people to be careful of the animals. The school holidays are coming, and I'm afraid it will start again," adds the owner of Pong.

Two complaints were recorded by the national gendarmerie which is prompting an investigation by the Céret company. Testimonies, including on the identity of the presumed perpetrators of these facts, were collected by the soldiers.
