After the reproduction of Louvain-la-Neuve and the Huy swimming pool in Minecraft, it is now the city of Liège's turn to benefit from its virtual alter ego in the famous online video game.
Launched last September, the “Liège in Minecraft” project consists of reproducing the city center of Liège in Minecraft as faithfully as possible without using a “mod” or a “texture-pack”.
Several iconic places in the Ardent City have been recreated there using virtual bricks. We thus find the terrace of the Pot au Lait, the Saint-Paul Cathedral (and its square), the place of XX August with the University of Liège and the theater.
This is not the first time that the province of Liège has found itself in the best-selling video game of all time (238 million copies worldwide).
Last July, the young Tom Marie (15) had recreated the swimming pool and the Quick de Huy. And in 2019, the LiègeCraft collective had already reproduced the place of August 20 as part of a project led by the House of Human Sciences of the University of Liège. A long-term job that had taken seven months!
But Liège is not the only province to inspire Minecraft fans. In March 2020, around twenty New Louvain students who had taken advantage of the confinement to recreate Louvain-la-Neuve on the online video game. An almost identical and rather stunning reproduction of the university city, which had made the buzz on social networks.
