After several months of waiting, Iliad – parent company of Free – has finally unveiled the box offer of its Italian subsidiary. Named Iliadbox, it uses the material from the Freebox Pop offer available in France but at a more aggressive price.
It’s now official: Iliad has launched on landlines in Italy. The operator announced its box offer this morning and made it available immediately via its website.
Having arrived on the other side of the Alps in May 2018, Iliad had the firm intention of launching into fixed lines with a box offer, but the parent company of Free took its time to offer the Iliadbox, which is a Freebox Pop rebadged.
Iliad had announced a revolution and the operator seems to be keeping its promise with a very attractive rate for customers who have an Iliad mobile line. Indeed, for them, the offer is offered at 15.99 euros per month against 23.99 euros per month for those who are not mobile customers.
With the reduction of 8 euros per month, the 5G plan of 120 GB which is offered at 9.99 euros per month ultimately only costs 1.99 euros per month. A very good opportunity for Italians to switch their mobile to Iliad.
The Iliadbox is a 100% fiber offer and like the Freebox Pop, it offers a maximum speed of 5 Gb/s in the downstream direction and 700 Mb/s in the upward direction. But for the inhabitants of Milan, Turin and Bologna, the speed is lower with an offer of 1 Gb/s downlink and 300 Mb/s uplink, only GPON being available in these localities.
On the landline side, Iliad offers unlimited calls to Italian landlines and mobiles as well as unlimited calls to landlines in 60 destinations. And that's it: in fact, Iliad does not offer television in its Iliadbox offer, but the transalpine market is different from the French market and television is rarely included.
Iliad also offers a WiFi extender (WiFi repeater) but it is available for rent for 1.99 euros per month. In addition, the internet offer is subject to an activation fee of 39.99 euros.
