The most common thing today is to have a Smart TV or a device that makes our television smart and allows us to access streaming content, series and movies online on any which platform available in the market. But it is not the only way and you can directly watch torrent or magnet links streaming on your TV with Chromecast. It's much easier and saves us a lot of time, although it's still not as convenient as opening the Netflix or HBO app and starting to watch your favorite series.

What is a Chromecast?

A Chromecast is a small device that can do us a great favor. As we already know, Google's invention allows us to turn our normal television into a Smart TV, with many advantages for the user. Thus, thanks to Google's Chromecast technology, our television will become a multimedia center in the same way as if we had a more expensive Smart TV. And just as we can take advantage of these streaming platforms, we will also be able to send video content that we have downloaded to our computer to our television. Or, in the case that we are going to explain, videos from torrent or magnet links that we stream on our computer.

What are torrent or magnet links?

Torrent or magnet links, the difference of which we will explain later, are links that will allow you to download movies or series for free on your computer. It is therefore appropriate to first consider the moral or legal problems that this type of practice can cause. If you are a regular user, you already know how these torrent and magnet programs and files work. When we upload them, we search other users' computers for a file that they make available for others to share.

This step is directly skipped and the content is downloaded.

Torrent and Magnet on TV

When we find a torrent or magnet link, we have to paste it into a torrent client that allows it to be downloaded or, in this case, introduce it into a program that immediately plays content as it is downloaded. It should be borne in mind that the success of this operation will be predetermined by both the size of the file and the speed of the download. If we have a bad connection and we want to download a very heavy and high quality file, obviously the download will be much slower, as can happen on YouTube if we want to play high definition content with a low Internet speed.

Other Methods

To cast content from your computer to your TV, you need to install Google Chrome on your computer. Through this Google browser, we will connect to the device of the same company that we have plugged into our television. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner and in the options panel that appears, click on Send. We can send a tab, in which specific content is playing, or the entire desktop. By default, the browser will send the tab to Chromecast, but we can change this setting by clicking on Send to in the window that opens. There we choose between the tab or the desktop, we select our Chromecast and it shows us the image of what is going to be projected on the television. We accept and allow the audio to be shared and we will have the computer on the television, on the big screen.
