Design: a sober elegance

During our first handling, the new Galaxy had left us a good impression.After a few days of test of the Galaxy A52 5G, we are definitively won over by its design.Samsung plays the sobriety card and that succeeds.The Galaxy A52 5G shines with its simplicity, its elegance, its class.

According to our test of the Galaxy A52 5G, from back, the smartphone is therefore perfectly illusing and looks like it is very high -end: next to a Galaxy S21 or a OnePlus 9 (also formedplastic), we see that fire.From the front, the observation is less flattering, the fault of black screen contours too thick to maintain the intact illusion.Too bad, but for this price, we cannot have everything.

We will therefore accommodate it as much as the grip in our test of the Galaxy A52 5G is particularly pleasant.Light and well proportioned, it allows use with a comfortable hand, well helped by one UI optimizations (we will come back to it).

For the rest, Samsung still seems as obsessed with symmetry.The hallmark is central, the physical buttons grouped on the right border.The Nanosim/MicroSD slot is positioned on the upper edge.On the other hand, the USB-C keeps company at the speaker and the ... 3.5 mm jack (what good news isn't it?).

We were going to forget: the Galaxy A52 5G (like the rest of the range) is IP67 certified.Please.Which is exactly the same index as that of the iPhone X.IP67 smartphones can be immersed in water (soft and without surfactive agents) up to 1 meter for 30 minutes maximum.

Screen and speakers: it's clean

The AMOLED screen of the Galaxy A52

For several years now Samsung has made a point of treating the quality of the screens of all its smartphones.Formerly reserved for premium models, the Amoled tiles have gradually equipped more affordable smartphones.

Thus, according to our test of the Galaxy A52 5G we have a Super AMOLED Infinity-O screen of 6.5 ’’ in 20: 9 format with a Full HD+ definition (2400 x 1080 pixels).Above all, the Korean opted for a 120 Hz slab bringing greater fluidity in animations, transitions and scrolls.This high (non -adaptive) refresh frequency also makes it possible to improve the gaming experience, with compatible licenses obviously.

Samsung announces a brightness of 800 cd/m2, a complete coverage of the ranges of SRGB and DCI-P3 colors as well as a high contrast rate and (amoled obliges) of the infinite blacks.

In our test of the Galaxy A52 5G, there is good and less good.Among the main faults of this screen, the haptic engine of poor quality takes pole position.Long and enveloping vibrations bring us back several years.This slab also camouflages a capricious fingerprint reader and positioned too low.

Too bad, because the display quality is really close to excellence.With the exception of a default colorimetry (lively mode) a bit too cold, the screen of the Galaxy A52 5G is a frank success.Besides, we will not hold rigor of its coldness since a small tour in the parameters allows to adjust the colorimetry and the temperature at its convenience.

The Galaxy A52 5G therefore honors the reputation of Samsung.It will delight "lambda" users as well as game and multimedia enthusiasts.

Audio: the Galaxy A52 is very good ... with headphones

Shunned by most manufacturers, the jack is the surprise guest of this Galaxy A52 5G to the delight of music lovers.That "flawless" reassure themselves, the smartphone is also compatible Bluetooth 5.1 and supports SBC, AAC, APTX, LDAC codecs as well as the Samsung Codec scalable.

To bet too much on the sound power, Samsung forgets a little about the balance.Thus, the bass shine with their absence and the distortion begins to irritate our sensitive ears around 70% of the maximum volume.

Average performance, licked interface

Last year, the A51 did not shine particularly by its performance.In 2021, Samsung muscle its game and team the Galaxy A52 5G tested with a Snapdragon 750g chip (with integrated 5G modem), 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage (extendable up to 1 TB thanks to a microSD card).

This choice of components allows the Galaxy A52 5G of our test to partially correct the main defect in its predecessor.Partially, because the GPU Adreno 619 is still too fair to meet the expectations of the most demanding users.

As soon as we multiply the use of resources (photo retouching, video editing, game) as in our test, the Galaxy A52 5G quickly presents signs of breathlessness.In these situations, the slowdowns are not uncommon which, in the long run, can become very annoying.

On the game side, the latest licenses of the moment (Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, Genshin Impact) turn with an average graphic configuration and limited fluidity.These impressions are confirmed when reading the results of benchmarks, not frankly folichons.

Despite this, the Galaxy A52 5G largely meets the needs of daily use, the optimization of one ui helping well.

One UI: Android with small onions

Like all Samsung smartphones launched this year, the Galaxy A52 5G ships Android 11 with the ONE UI overlay, here in version 3.1 (the most recent) with the security patch of February 2021.

The dark mode is still among the most successful that we have been given to test.Navigation gestures are also part.They are thus part of the logic of use with a hand made possible by a provision of the action buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Samsung also calmed down a lot about the integration of bloatware and duplicate applications.There are still some, but much less.The most obvious example is undoubtedly the withdrawal of the homemade messaging application, much less pleasant than Google Messages provided in all Android smartphones.

One UI is therefore undoubtedly among the main assets during our Galaxy A52 5G test.At the risk of repeating ourselves, the Samsung overlay is among the best android versions available to date.

Autonomy and recharge of the Galaxy A52: can do better

Definitely, Samsung seems angry with the recharge this year.After having (like Apple) decided to deliver its Galaxy S21 without charger, here it provides a block of 15 W with its Galaxy A52 5G yet compatible with a 25 -w load.

Result: with 1h40 waiting for a full load, the performance is far from satisfying us.On this price segment, competition does much better.Some manufacturers (Realme, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi) even accompany much more affordable smartphones in faster recharging systems.In rare cases, wireless recharge is also part.Samsung, it reserves it to its most premium models.

Fortunately, the excellent autonomy of the Galaxy A52 5G reconciles us (in part) with Samsung.The 4500 mAh battery associated with good software optimization allow up to 2 days of versatile use.Streaming video players and/or bulimic will have to get closer to a sector outlet after a day and a half of use.Not bad at all.

Camera of the Galaxy A52: the blow of grace

The race for the best quality photo today wins the mid -range segment.The Korean does not intend to leave himself by Oppo, Xiaomi and others, also he equips his Galaxy A52 5G with a quadruple module composed of:

Apart from that, during our test, the Galaxy A52 5G checks all the boxes.Its main sensor is excellent in good light conditions, it gets away with the honors in low light, the night mode is effective, the macro mode successful.

He is particularly shining with his portrait mode.Not only is the clutching precise (a few mechouilles of hair near) and the mastered bokeh.Above all, Samsung authorizes the adjustment of the opening (the intensity of the blur) after shooting.

The 32 MPXL front sensor (Grand-angle F/2,2 lens) is just as attractive as the main module.The self -portrait mode just as successful as the portrait mode.

Our opinion after the Galaxy A52 5G test

After a successful Galaxy A51, the Galaxy A52 5G of this test has all the assets to succeed it brilliantly.Apart from his somewhat just performance and recharge a bit too slow, he excess his rivals on many points.

If the design remains subjective, we must admit that Samsung pushes the limits of minimalism and elegance on this price segment.The screen of the Galaxy A52 5G is magnificent, the autonomy excellent and the dreaded camera.All this for a contained price.This test of the Galaxy A52 5G has made this smartphone one of our biggest favorites.
