The benefits of Free Mobile are now available to mobile users traveling in Portugal, at no additional cost. The operator thus hopes to attract the strong Portuguese community living in France. But the offer is however framed by a few conditions.

Are you a Free Mobile customer and do you regularly travel to Portugal? Good news, your plan will not be subject to any additional cost when you call or send SMS / MMS to a line located in Portugal or metropolitan France. A downside: the French overseas are visibly forgotten, despite recent changes made by the operator.

Free thus hopes to seduce the Portuguese diaspora targeting France, estimated at 5 million people. The offer will be available from Friday, April 26, that is to say tomorrow. "Free is the 1st operator to include these communications in a package for the general public and is once again upsetting the market which has been accustomed to very high prices", welcomes (.pdf) the operator.

The offer is however framed by two conditions. First, the absence of additional cost is limited to 35 days per year. That's as much as five weeks vacation. Beyond this period, Free will apply its usual rates (.pdf): to a fixed line, the cost is included. To a mobile line, the rate is €0.19 including tax per minute. Then, it will be necessary to have a seniority of at least two months at Free Mobile.

This second condition aims above all to prevent smart people from chaining contracts with Free Mobile throughout the year to reset the counter of 35 days a year. Free Mobile indeed offers two non-binding formulas. It would have been very tempting for some to follow this method to potentially benefit from "free" calls and text messages.
