The new coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 65,272 people worldwide since its appearance in December in China, according to a report compiled by AFP from official sources on Sunday at 11:00 GMT. More than 1,206,480 cases of infection have been officially diagnosed in 190 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic.

However, this number of diagnosed cases only reflects a fraction of the actual number of contaminations, with a large number of countries now only testing cases requiring hospital treatment. Of these cases, at least 233,300 are now considered cured.
