(Togo First) - In Togo, the portability of mobile numbers, which allows users to change the GSM operator, while retaining their telephone number, should be effective in a few months, following the favorable opinion of thepopulation for its implementation.

Indeed, according to a public consultation carried out by ARCEP between October 13 and 31, 2021, 93.8% of subscribers of mobile electronic communications services are favorable to the implementation of the portability of mobile numbers in Togo.

After this vast plebiscite, "the next step is to set up the devices to be able to go very quickly to portability, in terms of frames, in operational terms (...) in the coming months, thatshould be effective, "said a source close to Arcep to Togo First.

This portability should be "a real lever for competition", according to the telecoms gendarme in Togo in a press release.In particular, it "will allow the consumer to make their choice according to the best quality of service and/or the best attractive offers and prices available on the market", adds the regulator.

Recall that to date, the two GSM operators operating on the Togolese market are Moov and Togocel.
