The Apple TV app can now be downloaded on Android TV devices through the Google Play Store. It allows viewers to access Apple TV+ content and other content such as series, movies, shows or TV channels.

Android TV is one of the most popular platforms for smart TVs and TV boxes, but the operating system has so far not been compatible with Apple's app. The first product to be supported was the new Chromecast with Google TV, but it took several months for all Android TV devices to become compatible.

Until now, the Apple TV application was available on Roku and Fire TV devices, but also on PlayStation, Xbox, or even on televisions from Vizio, Sony, Samsung or LG. The Apple TV+ service supports 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, even on devices like the Nvidia Shield.

Apple will now compete with Netflix, Prime and Disney+

Apple TV+'s main competitors, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+, have been available on the Android TV platform for some time now. The arrival of Apple TV+ on Android TV devices will allow Apple to reach a large number of people. It will therefore not be surprising to see the number of subscribers explode in the next few months.

The service offers excellent titles, including Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, Servent and the Foundation series based on Isaac Asimov's novels. For travel and motorcycle fans, you can also watch Long Way Up, a crazy 21,000 kilometer trip on an electric Harley with Ewan McGregor.

It's worth subscribing for a month or two to watch some shows and movies. Even though Android TV devices don't support Siri, users will be able to navigate and find shows with their voice using Google Assistant.

If you purchased a qualifying Apple device, the company is giving you a one-year subscription to the Apple TV+ streaming service. However, Apple offers a 7-day free trial to all new users. Once the trial period is over, the streaming service will cost 4.99 euros per month.
