UFC-Que Choisir denounces a double game concerning cold calling and the end of toxic practices. Behind the fine speeches, it would rather be a question of pushing all the advances to the nettles.

Despite the various measures taken in recent years, canvassing by telephone continues to be abused and has even “worsened since the start of the health crisis”, according to UFC-Que Choisir. The consumer association is also concerned about the evolution of the debates aimed at putting an end to these “toxic” practices, even though “the establishment of this salutary framework seemed to be on the right track”.

Pointing to the attitude of insurance professionals, UFC-Que Choisir denounces “a chasm” separating words and actions. The association indeed notes that maneuvers are operated in the last straight line in order to “reduce a bill directly inspired by an agreement concluded at the CCSF (Editor’s note: Advisory Committee of the financial sector) which they nevertheless unanimously supported ” . The goal being, according to her, to push “to the nettles all the advances voted in the Senate”.

“By crude legal arrangements, as well as by the eternal blackmail with employment, the lobbies of the insurance return today on their commitments”, explains UFC-Que Choisir. The consumer association thus invites parliamentarians to “resist pressure”. It recalls the triple objective of this framework: putting an end to telephone harassment, moving towards less ambiguous consumer consent and simplifying the termination of contracts taken out in the context of canvassing.
