The Montreal company Nüvü Cameras Inc., located in the Innovation district, located in the Griffintown sector, has developed a high -tech camera capable of imagining the slightest particle of light. This camera has even drawn the attention of NASA, which will integrate Nüvü imaging technology at its next major mission, the launch of which is scheduled for 2027.
This is the Nancy Grace Roman Télescope mission, during which Nüvü technology will be the instrument that will be used for the detection of planets orbiting around a star other than the sun, in order to discover one or more habitable planets outof our solar system.
Nüvü Cameras Inc.was founded in 2010 by Canadian scientist Marie-Eve Ducharme and Quebec scientist Olivier Daigle, who notably invented the first Nüvü camera prototype in 2009, during his doctorate in physics at the University of Montreal. The company has just developed a cameras technology that makes it possible to observe the infinitely far (the universe) as well as the infinitely small (an intracellular molecule of the living body).
When we observe an almost obscure scene, where the eye no longer sees, the challenge is to be limited by the capacity of the camera to detect the slightest particle of light called photon.Nüvü cameras now allow you to see at least four times more photons, or light particles, with a clearer image than the best competitive cameras already existing.
This product thus revolutionizes scientific fields, including that of the life sciences, to allow for example the analysis of brain synapses with fluorescent markers or the detection of brain cancers.
Installed in the Southwest, the company had the financial support of the Canadian Space Agency to start the development of an imagery technology for the space.
The Canadian Space Agency has also attributed a contribution to Nüvü Camies as part of the Spatial Technologies Development Program for the development of a Nüvü Imaging Exoplanetic solution compatible with nanosatellite systems.
