What is your level of addiction to your laptop? As World Cell Phone Free Day approaches, we take stock.
AdvertisementHow long has it been since you looked at your phone? On the occasion of the World Day without mobile phones this Sunday, February 7, the reconditioning company Recommerce Group is releasing a survey carried out by the Toluna* polling site.
21% of respondents consider their phone to be an addiction. But if we refocus more precisely on generation Z, they are now 40% who cannot do without more than 5 minutes. Generations that were not born with a phone in their hand have less difficulty parting with it: 65% of those over 55 claim to be able to cut it off without too much trouble.
Tell me which region you come from and I will tell you what an addict you are
The figures reveal that Parisians are the most attached to their mobile (32%), while Alsatians have a slightly less unconditional love for it: 58% would be ready to resist the temptation of a cell phone for 24 hours , followed by the Corsicans (50%). The regions where the percentage of "addicts" remains high are the Midi-Pyrénées (29%), Lorraine (28%) and Aquitaine (27%).
38% of respondents would also rather not have the right to speak for 24 hours than go a day without a phone, and 20% are able to make a food sacrifice for a day to be able to keep their precious property. Only 13% go so far as to spend an entire day with their worst enemy to stay connected to the virtual world. Why so many sacrifices?
It's simple, for 77% of them, the laptop is a security against the unexpected, a lifeline in case of a glitch. Especially since in the context of a pandemic, the laptop comes to save loneliness and above all to ensure the progress of teleworking. In the era of covid-19, the laptop has become a basic necessity. So, are we doing it this day without a cellphone?
*Toluna survey conducted with a representative sample of 1,000 people from January 28 to 30, 2019.
